RALPH JOSEPH MEEKS SR.
88, passed away on July 7, 2018 at Park Place Senior Living in Ft. Wayne. He was born January 3, 1930, in Ft. Wayne to his birth father Joseph Meeks and mother Nellie (Miller) Green. He was raised by his step-father Edward Green and his mother in Ft. Wayne.
Ralph was a life long resident of Ft. Wayne, and graduated from Central High School in 1948. After high school, he joined the Marine Corps Reserve and was immediately sent to Korea after basic training. After serving in the Marine Corps, he worked for Northern Indiana Public Service Company as a serviceman and retired in 1991.
Ralph married Sharon Lee Liddy in 1953 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Ft. Wayne. They were happily married for 49 years. Ralph was a member of the choir at St. Peters for many years with his wife Sharon.
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, in 2002. Ralph was also preceded in death by his mother and fathers, daughter Angela J. Browning, two sons Christopher L. and Phillip A. brothers Donald Meeks, Edward Green, Jack Green, and sister Dolores Mitchell.
Ralph is survived by three sons, David (Martine) of Spencerville, Ralph "Joe" (Amy) of Churubusco, Michael E. (Jennifer) of Grabill; two daughters, Karen M. Fletcher (Jeff Sr.), Cynthia A. Roy (William) of Yoder; sisters Darlene Gourley of Hookstown PA, Eunice Powers of Butler IN, brothers Clifford "Skip" Green of Narvarre, FL and John Meeks of Charlotte, NC; 18 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and one soon to be expected great-great grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am at St. Peters Catholic Ch. on Friday July 13, 2018. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass. The family will also receive friends on Thursday July 12, 2018 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home. A Rosary Service will be held at 6pm on that day. Entombment will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund and/or Honor Flight Of Northeast Indiana.
